This policy governs the processing of personal data carried out by VALLE NEVADO SpA (hereinafter, the “Controller”), in compliance with Law No. 19,628 on the Protection of Private Life, in connection with the voluntary subscription of individuals who wish to receive information, news, and promotions related to the ski resort’s services.
The Controller may collect and process the following personal data:
Personal data will be processed exclusively for the following purposes:
The data will not be used for purposes other than those stated above without obtaining new authorization from the data subject.
In accordance with applicable regulations, you may exercise the following rights before the Controller at any time:
To exercise your rights, you may contact us at: sac@vallenevado.com
1. Data Controller for your personal data: Valle Nevado SpA (hereinafter “Valle Nevado” or “the Resort”), RUT 96.513.050-0, located at Av. Isidora Goyenechea 2800, office 502, Las Condes, Santiago, Chile. For any inquiries or to exercise your rights, you can write to us at privacidad@vallenevado.com.
2.1 Purchase and cardholder identification data: At the time of pass purchase, we collect the necessary data to identify you as the holder, issue the pass, and manage the contractual relationship:
2.2 Data generated during pass usage: During the season, the system records: ski lift access (date, time, slope), images from video surveillance systems, and biometric data described in section 3. Legal basis: contract performance and legitimate interest in the safety of individuals and facilities.
2.3 Video surveillance: Facilities feature clearly signposted security cameras. Recordings are retained for a maximum of 30 days, except upon request by authority, legal proceedings, or workplace accident. Cameras are not installed in restrooms, changing rooms, or private areas.
3. Biometric verification, a condition of the Season Pass, which is personal and non-transferable: This condition defines its price, benefits, and accident policy. At a ski resort, with high daily access volume and snow conditions, helmets, and equipment making visual identification difficult, 1:1 biometric verification is the only technically reliable mechanism to ensure that only the legitimate holder uses their pass. Its use is mandatory: it is the method by which Valle Nevado guarantees the terms of the contract acquired.
3.1 When passing through a ski lift turnstile, the camera captures your facial image and the system generates a mathematical representation (biometric vector) compared in real time with the vector derived from your pass photo. The result is binary: access granted or denied. The system does not store raw facial images once verification is complete. It only retains the result, date, time, and pass identifier.
3.2 The system does not identify unknown individuals. It operates in 1:1 verification mode: comparing your face exclusively with the photo on your own pass. It does not perform searches in third-party databases nor identify persons who have not presented their pass.
3.3 The biometric vector is encrypted and stored separately from the rest of your personal data. System access is restricted and logged. Encryption keys are managed by Valle Nevado. No service provider may use your biometric data for its own purposes.
3.4 The biometric vector is permanently deleted within 30 days following pass expiration or permanent revocation. At the end of the season, biometric data is not retained for future seasons without new authorization.
3.5 Minors’ data is processed in accordance with special regulations established by current legislation. Anyone purchasing a pass on behalf of a minor declares to act as legal representative and authorizes data processing under the terms of this Policy. Consent for processing biometric data of minors under 14 years old must be granted exclusively by their legal representative.
3.6 The Season Pass operates with biometric verification as a condition of service. If you prefer not to submit to this system, the available alternative is purchasing daily tickets, which operate under a different access mechanism and do not require biometric verification. Daily tickets are available at ticket offices and on the Resort’s website.
4. Retention periods
5. We disclose your data due to legal obligations: SII, courts, Public Prosecutor’s Office, Carabineros, PDI, SUSESO, Labor Directorate. Also to Interconnected Resorts: if your pass includes access to La Parva or another resort, we share identification data and access logs strictly necessary for pass management. To Service Providers: sales platform, payment processor, biometric and video surveillance system providers. All are contractually obligated not to use your data for their own purposes. International transfers: when any system hosts data outside Chile, we adopt necessary contractual measures to guarantee protection.
6. We process your data for the following purposes:
7. Your rights under Law No. 19.628. You have the right to access, rectify, cancel, or object to the processing of your personal data. For biometric data, you have the right to request deletion once the pass expires. How to exercise your rights: Write to privacidad@vallenevado.com specifying full name, RUT, exercised right, and grounds. We will respond within 30 business days. If you do not receive a response or if it is rejected, you may appeal to courts of law pursuant to Law No. 19.628.
