Valle Nevado is pleased to announce that it will open on June 22 for the 2012 season. All services, including restaurants, stores, ski rental, classes, and lifts, as well as condominiums, will be open. The ski resort’s 3 hotels (Tres Puntas, Puerta del Sol and Valle Nevado) will open on June 29.
Valle Nevado received 50cm of snow this weekend that added to last week’s storm of 30cm for a total base of 80cm. Chile expects another light storm this week through Wednesday.

Designed for enthusiastic amateurs as well as budding professionals, Valle Nevado’s Image Quest, presented by Lan Airlines, is a unique opportunity to explore and expand photography skills and styles while savoring a spectacular ski experience deep in the heart of the magnificent Andes Mountains. With a 3-to-1 student-to-instructor relationship, participants are given the rare chance to learn from some the best ski, travel and outdoor photographers working today, including Nils Schlebusch, Grant Gunderson and Tom Winter, while enjoying the unparalleled terrain, views, snow, and friendly ambiance of Valle Nevado.
The event takes place from September 7-14. Participants will enter a series of their best photos to compete to win, in a series of categories, a free Valle Nevado visit in 2013, and other prizes. They will also get the opportunity to show their best shots as part of a slideshow for all guests at Valle Nevado at the end of the week. Select images of participants will also be uploaded to Valle Nevado’s site for further exposure.
